Better Me in ‘23

Happy New Year!! As we finish the first week of the new year, it is important to look back and celebrate our accomplishments and develop goals for the new year. I have never been one to make new year’s resolutions, I am more focused on making goals. Here are my accomplishments and goals.

Accomplishments

In late 2021, my husband received a diagnosis and 2022 was spent in helping him navigate through that diagnosis. What I learned through 2022 was that you can be support, however, you cannot manage someone else’s diagnosis. By accepting that fact, it allows you to manage your own stress. Control only what you can control!!

One of the best accomplishments is my own health. I have made it to the 4th year after diagnosis!! This accomplishment included healthy eating, working out 4-5 times a week, and a positive attitude. By focusing on a healthy lifestyle, I managed to keep the diagnosis at bay. Embrace a healthy lifestyle!!

I accomplished two major travel trips to Michigan and completing the Chasing Waterfalls Series in North Carolina. As life gets busier, the ability to travel while working full-time is definitely an accomplishment!!

It is always a blessing to spend time with family and friends. It is always a pleasure to spend time with my parents as they enjoy their 80’s. Proud to spend time with my adult children as they navigate their lives through jobs, marriage, and raising children. Being able to watch my three grandchildren grow up is one of the best joys in life!! Enjoy your family and friends!!

Goals

The number one goal in 2023 is health. Without health, reaching other goals is not possible. Being in an unhealthy state overcomes your focus on your goals. Encompassed in the health goal is managing stress from all areas of your life while eating healthy and drinking plenty of fluids. Regular exercise is a vital part of the health goal and looks different for each person. The last piece of the health goal is essential to get enough sleep. With this goal achieved, we can focus on other goals.

As most of us have interests that are also working full time jobs, sometime those full-time jobs overlap into our other time. The goal is to manage the full time job’s overtime that needs to be worked by focusing on efficiencies at work. That way, we have time to pay attention to our other interests or second job!!

As my other interest is blogging, my goal for blogging has several facets. Focus on regular and consistent blogs from creating more series. Posting regular to social media via using a scheduler to ensure consistency. An extension of focusing on the website is to move to the stage of monetizing the blog. Whatever your interests are, be consistent with your time and use resources to save time.

My goal is to travel throughout the year picking locales that would spark interest in travel. This of course would have to be managed with my full-time job. The goal is to increase the travel from last year so that there are more series to blog about. My trips are research for my blogs so make sure to complete your research for various stages in your interests.
